Health and Safety
Dogs should not be brought to the event if they are coughing or recently been in contact with any infectious diseases. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure their dog is fit and healthy before racing. If in doubt, consult your vet.
No bitches in season are permitted to race, furthermore it is requested that they are kept clear of the race course.
Please listen to our race briefing and marshal instructions. If you have any concern about your dog or yourself during the race, please approach the nearest marshal and advise them of this. If you have any concerns about yourself or your dog prior to racing or after racing, please find one of the organisers and advise them accordingly.
Remember to allow plenty of time between feeding your dog and racing. Furthermore, allow your dog to drink little and often as required, but do not allow your dog to gulp water during the run or straight after. Please ensure they have a drink, but go back for more if healthy before racing.
Are you new to canicross? Is this your first race?
This is a first canicross race for many people, why not check out the beginner guide on our website by clicking here.
If you still have questions, why not watch our fun and informative video:
Equipment can be incredibly confusing when you first start, this is a great guide on dog harnesses:
We also have a FAQ section: here
Rogue Dog and Eric showcase the terrain best, have a look at their Foxlake Adventures!
PLEASE GIVE WAY TO ANY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC, STOP AND WAIT IF NEED BE!!!
An over lay of the route can be seen on this map.
Please click on the numbers to find out more information about that point. The route is essentially being run anti-clockwise. The red line depicts the long route and blue line depicts the shorter route.
Both the 5km route and 2.5km round start and finish beside the cafe (marker 1 on the map), look out for the start and finish banners, runners are directed past the back of Foxfall and across the grass towards the fence beside the woodland. Thereafter, runners are directed into the woodland through the single track, twisting and turning trails, which brings them down onto the wide soft farm track, with a large open field on the left. This is a particularly fast section and a great spot for any runners looking to take advantage of overtaking. The soft sandy trail turns a sharp left along a row of trees. The 2.5km route continues along this trail. However, at this point the 5km route turns right (marker 2 on the map). There will be a marshal and signage here to keep all the runners right. The short route simply continues along the farm trail, whereupon it is joined again by the 5km route further along.
Bridge May Be Slippy. Take Care! 🙂
We are fortunate to be supported by a number of great sponsors. This year sees the return of Big Bobble Hats, so bring lots of pennies, spoil yourself and keep your head warm!
This year we are supporting the Edinburgh Dog and Cat home. This charity provides a much needed shelter for stray and unwanted dogs and cats. Please bring any clean good condition spare dog equipment you have from leads, harnesses, collars, jackets to dog toys and treats and everything else in between and hand them in at registration.
We are incredibly lucky to have such amazing sponsors and supporters! But first a HUGE thanks to Foxlake Adventures for letting us use their incredible venue.
Big Bobble Hats, Run the Sights, Just Dogs Shop and Cani-Fit have all been very kind in sponsoring the races with some excellent prizes.
A big shout out to our other supporters who have provided spot prizes; Puppins Dog Walking, Lisa Cleeton Veterinary Physiotherapy & Manipulation, Fish4Dogs, Bob Marshal Photography and Yellow Dog Photography.
Please engage with the sponsors social media, share pictures with them and message them thanking them for any prizes you may receive.
